Every business should have a Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) in place, to be prepared for
Small companies may not bother doing this in full -- that's up to you. But one area we can advise on is
"What happens if ABC Software stops trading?"
Relax! This is one part of your DRP that should not have critical impact on your business. And we have even prepared a guide and support if you need to transfer to another software company.
If ABC Software suddenly stops trading.....
The ABC Accounting and Payroll software is completely local to your computer(s). You are not reliant on the internet or Cloud storage to use ABC. Your licence to use ABC does not expire. So if ABC Software company disappears, this would have no immediate effect on your business.
An exception to this might be if ABC Software can't provide support immediately after an update that contains a fault. To mitigate against this, we have a Roll-Back option that allows you to revert back to the previous version of ABC.
To safeguard data, you should have a robust backup system in place. Regular backups to more than one offsite location, and do not overwrite old backups for a month. Automatic Cloud backups are cheap and easy.
If you have current Annual Support with ABC Software, you can have access to our in-depth guide to transferring (and converting) your company data to a different accounting system. There are also some utility programs that can make this easier.
